Quilt Preparation

The more time and attention you put into the preparation of your quilt top and back, the better finished quilt you will have to share with your family and friends.

Quilt Top Preparation

  1. Clip all threads on the front and back of your quilt top.
  2. Press all seams to one side or open depending on what your quilt design dictates.
  3. Back tack to secure any seam on the outer edge of the quilt top to prevent unraveling.
  4. Press entire quilt top.

Quilt Back Preparation

  1. When calculating the amount of fabric needed for your quilt back, please allow extra fabric to accommodate for the squaring of the fabric and shrinkage from pre-washing (pre-washing is your option).
  2. After pre-washing, add 3”to 4” of fabric on all sides of the quilt back for a total of 6” to 8” to  the total length and width of the quilt back.
  3. Piece your quilt back together using a ½” seam allowance and press the seam to one side, not open.
  4. Press the entire quilt back.
